# Customising Player Avatar

This section covers step-by-step instructions on how to assign a custom skeletal mesh to the player blueprint. To get started all that is required is a skeletal mesh and its skeleton. To provide a practical example we will use this [asset](https://www.unrealengine.com/marketplace/en-US/product/modular-rpg-heroes-polyart) from the marketplace. The asset comes with a skeleton based on Epic's UE4 skeleton.
